Duke – love at first sight!
We wanted to get a family dog had been researching breeds for about 18 months, we had decided on a Japanese Spitz and had had even paid a deposit for a puppy to a registered breeder. After a 12 month wait we were only weeks away from receiving our long awaited puppy when I saw Duke’s picture on the Cocker Spaniel Rescue website. I fell in love immediately and knew from reading his story that we would be a good family for Duke. I was absolutely positive that this was meant to be.
We were all so excited to meet him and meeting him only confirmed for me that we were a perfect match. It’s funny to look back on that day I really had no idea that I was going to meet a little dog that would become our best friend and such a big part of our family.
Duke is honestly the happiest, most loving dog you could meet even our crazy cat loves him. They rub noses and are so affectionate with each other. Duke loves to be with us, he loves coming for a drive in the car whether it be a quick trip down to the shops or a long drive for few hours he doesn’t mind. He’s been camping and loved it; he loves his walk and will happily walk 5 km or even longer. Duke has many admirers; in fact wherever he goes people comment on his beautiful nature. He is such a loving companion and loyal happy little soul that we are so grateful to have him he’s the best mate anyone could hope for. Duke loves everyone.…and we all love Duke.
