Hi folks,
My name is Elvis, and not too long ago life was pretty “ruff”. That was until the great people at Cocker Spaniel Rescue Queensland came in and decided it was time to find me a better life. I went to a foster home for a few months, and even though my foster mum was lovely, I knew that someone out there would give me a furever home where they would love me as much as I deserved to be loved (I’m pretty awesome after all!).
So about a month ago a nice lady called Penny came and took me home. For a few days, I was a bit low, I wasn’t too sure if she was “the one”, and everyone knows that moving homes can be a bit of a shake up. But over the last month, I’ve got a whole new lease on life.
Penny is the BFF I have been looking for, and I’m pretty sure she really gets me. I take her for a big walk everyday, we love to swim together and snuggle up on the lounge afterward for lots of cuddles and more than a few wet doggy kisses. Most importantly, Penny has made me part of her family. I just love playing with her nieces and nephew, and her mum Pam takes great care of me when Penny has to go to work.
The only problem with Pam is that she thinks housework is pretty important, and well, I think its pretty funny to mess up whatever she has just cleaned. My favourite tricks include going for a swim and then trailing big wet paw prints through the house, and jumping in the beds when she is trying to make them (and also after she has made them, bahahaha!).
Sometimes on the weekend we get to go for big runs in the bush, and even go out on the kayaks, which I think is a hoot, especially when I get to run around in the mud and maybe chase a bird or two. The bottom line is, my life is really happy now, and I’m so glad that I decided to give this family a chance because I reckon this is what a dogs life is suppose to be like.
So before I go and enjoy my daily shenanigans, I want to shoot a great big sloppy kiss to the great folk at CSRQ for making all this happen, and to my foster mum (who I know was really sad to see me go) for all the great care she gave me when I was pretty low and in need of some serious lovin’. And for the rest of you folk out there, if you’re thinking of adopting a furry friend like me, and you’re a special kind of human with lots of understanding and love to give, there is a happy ending out there just like mine!
Lots of love and tail wagging,
Elvis x
